About us
The idea for Adventures Off the Eaten Path came from a trip to London many years ago where I suffered through a lousy tour led by a lazy tour guide. I thought, "I've been here enough, I'll bet i could do a better job!". After coming back home to San Francisco, I was invited to work for a local tour company, Explore San Francisco. I met some great people, made a lot of contacts, and had a great time too. While there, I created the City's first Vegetarian tour, and was well known for running the Real Chinatown Tour. After working with them for several years, I decided it was time to strike out on my own . Our goal is to have your tour feel like you are being taken out to eat by your friend who knows all the best places. Please take a look around the site, and please let us know if you have any questions, or if you would like more info.
Thanks,
Dan Chew
The History & Culture....
Each neighborhood we visit has its own unique character, history and flavor. Find out how the dishes you are sampling are made, and why they are made that way. We feel that the best way to understand a culture is through the cuisine.

The People...
To us, a food tour should be about more than just the food. Sure, having tasty choices is important, but just as important are knowing the history, the context and the people that are creating your food. We will bring that alive with unique opportunities to take a peek behind the scenes and perhaps chat with the folks responsible for making these magical meals happen.
